In St Jean d'Arves, ski relaxation and easy walks around its typical hamlets invite contemplation of the majestic landscape of Les Aiguilles d'Arves under a bright sunshine, essential in winter, tanks to the southern exposure. It is a resort for nature lovers, but most athletes will not be disappointed by the 310 km of slopes connected. Access to the first ski area in Maurienne "Les Sybelles" is also from St Jean d'Arves. |
A Brief Description
Saint Jean d'Arves is a ski resort located in the Northern French Alps. It's directly connected to the first ski area in the Maurienne valley: les Sybelles (310 km of ski slopes). The resort offers panoramic view on the Arves peaks (3514 meters high). Skiing, snowshoeing, paragliding, hiking and quietness are the main assets of Saint Jean d'Arves. Those who appreciate beautiful large spaces without the crowd will enjoy their stay. The A 43 highway and the train station in Saint Jean de Maurienne (besides the Lyon, Chambéry, Grenoble and Geneva airports) provide easy access. During the summer time, agriculture is the main aspect. There is an abundance of flowers, cows roaming the fields filling the air with the sound of their bells and enjoy Beaufort cheese as the local speciality.
Off season, the Tourist Office of Les Chambons is open Monday through Friday, from 9-12am and 2- 5pm (closed on public holidays).
During the summer and winter seasons, our two offices are open 7 days a week.
